St. JOHN by Drake's: The Lookbook
We’re proud to bring to life the inaugural collaboration with our friends over at London’s legendary St. JOHN — an irreverent and informed collection that celebrates our shared values and appreciation for some of the good things in life: a long lunch and great clothes, made with care.
Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, the founders of St. JOHN, have long been Drake’s customers, while Drake’s Creative Director Michael Hill and the team prefer no table more than one covered in a white paper table cloth at St. JOHN. Operating around the corner from one another for many happy years, this collection is the proud, and natural, result of years of friendship.
The collection includes Drake’s cotton moleskin Chore Jackets, inspired by Fergus Henderson’s ‘blue de travail’ jackets and his emblematic striped suiting, with fabrics custom-woven in UK mills. The Tasting Gilet is a riff on the waistcoat that Trevor wears in the vineyards, at wine tastings and on his travels, reworked in moleskin and featuring ample pockets for notepads, corkscrews, boarding passes and passports — all at exactly the right placements for access at speed after the rigours of a long tasting.
In a nod to a phrase that Fergus so famously coined, and a wink for those in the know, NOSE TO TAIL appears on tote bags, caps and sweatshirts. Fergus' beloved wine tasting SNIFFING illustration, including a wine-drinking drake, is embroidered and on badges. And a reimagining of the famous St. JOHN pig jumps, free-range and free-spirited, over a gate and into its new life, intarsia woven into signature Drake’s Shetland knitwear.
