Tailoring in Venice

Venice in the off-season is a dream. Fewer tourists, better light, the whole city feels like it’s taking a long, deep breath. Mornings begin with the sound of shutters opening and water lapping against the fondamenta. The streets are still, save for the first deliveries of the day rolling over worn stones or gliding quietly along the waterways. Later, the piazzas will swell with life, but for now there is a calm that belongs only to those who live here.

Without the press of summer crowds, the pace softens, leaving space for small rituals: an espresso at the bar, a stroll along the Riva, a newspaper tucked under the arm, an hour spent doing nothing at all. It is in these moments that Venice feels most itself, a city that has always embraced both ceremony and ease.

For our latest collection of tailoring, made in Italy (naturally) and photographed here among the canals and cloisters of the floating city, we wanted to capture that same spirit.

This collection also marks a return to the same workshop a short drive away where we first made suits more than four decades ago. There is a satisfaction in that continuity, in making something new while honouring the hands and habits that originally helped shape it.

Flannels, tweeds, a soft shouldered coat or two, the kind you can throw on without thinking too hard. Clothes for wandering, for conversation, for simply sitting still. Clothes that fit into the texture of a city like Venice, and into the rhythms of a life well-lived anywhere.
