The BEAMS F & Drake’s Lookbook

Here at Drake’s we’ve always had a soft spot for the way Japan approaches menswear. It’s a source of inspiration and fascination for us. Somewhere between that particular attention to detail, a respect for tradition and a willingness to make things its own lies some of the most precise and creative interpretations of classic garments.
Beams have been doing just that for 50 years now, and to celebrate the anniversary we’ve worked with them on a collection that brings some of our favourite Drake’s pieces into conversation with their distinctly Japanese take on classic menswear. A special capsule built upon the history and deep mutual trust established between Beams and Drake’s since the 1980s.
The defining feature of this release lies in an unprecedented, entirely new approach to collaboration; filtering our distinct design aesthetic through the lens of Beams F and bringing it to life in leading, world-class Japanese manufacturing facilities. It’s about seeing what happens when two long-standing appreciators of the same clothes approach them from different sides of the world.
A British wardrobe, with a Japanese perspective. Or, more simply, Drake’s as seen through the eyes of BEAMS F.
So there’s a tweed jacket that takes its cues from our Games range of tailoring, but works it through Japan's premier tailoring factory, Ring Jacket. Additionally, the denim chore jackets and trousers utilise top-grade selvedge denim from Okayama, meticulously constructed in order to achieve the exquisite quality unique to Made in Japan production.
A knit inspired by traditional fisherman’s sweaters, and a Fair Isle vest, are both cold weather classics, perfect for layered, and bridge the gap between utility and beauty, and also across continents.
But these are really all multifunctional clothes, robust, straightforward, stylish, a landmark collection fusing British traditional heritage with advanced Japanese craftsmanship.
