When the temperature climbs, shorts are inarguably an essential. However, finding just the right pair can be deceptively difficult, so we took it upon ourselves to make the search that bit simpler.
A pair of shorts is among the simplest items in a man’s summer wardrobe. They possess fewer of the complications and pitfalls that can attend their longer-legged cousins. So long as they’re not too slim, not too baggy, and finish above the knee, you’re most of the way there. But despite that, a good pair of shorts can be surprisingly hard to find. Garish patterns, gaudy colours, or unnecessary cargo pockets can all too often blight what would have otherwise been perfectly acceptable attire.
For our shorts, we decided to keep things simple. A neat leg, mid-rise and single pleats combine for a pleasingly sartorial effect, allowing the shorts to be worn with anything from a casual polo to a breezy button-down shirt and loafers.
Colour is another element that is best kept simple. While its tempting to opt for a tone that would seem too outrageous in a pair of trousers – a sunshine yellow, or a bright pink – its hard to beat the classics. This season we present our shorts in three shades of delightfully textured washed linen: turquoise, navy and mid-blue. Each will beautifully complement airy pique and snuff suede, or striped oxford cotton and ecru canvas.
These shorts are the ideal garment, whether you’re spending a day at the beach, going for a stroll in the country, or running errands in town. Simply put, a pair of these will see you right for summer.
