• All of our ties are completely handmade on Haberdasher Street in London's East End. Carefully adhering to the traditions of craftsmanship built up since 1977, our meticulous attention to detail is never compromised and we are proud to create the totally authentic, English handmade tie.

  • The 36oz foulard is our house print quality. Constructed with a medium sized twill using a traditional ‘filletto’ print.

  • Hand screen printed in England, on a larger twill, our 50oz foulard silk is known for its ability to absorb and reproduce dye tinctures in crisp, clear colours to an unparalleled degree.

  • The printing of authentic Real Ancient Madder silk is far from being a lost art. The colours produced from madder dyestuffs and meticulous printing are simply not to be duplicated in another medium.

  • Our woven grenadine silk is the original and only true large knot grenadine. The ultimate woven tie – a hard twist, four knot silk with its distinctive texture – woven on antique wooden shuttle looms dating back to 1928.

  • Jacquard refers to the way the silk is woven, for example in a weaving process the loom can be programmed to raise each warp thread independently of the others, offering the highest levels of yarn control.

  • Our knitted ties start with first quality raw silk, spun, dyed, and finished in a way that assures the crunchy handle and Cri de la Soie (the crunch of the silk when squeezed) for which our knits are famous.

  • At Drake’s we stand second to none in our respect for the tried and true, but we do like to see what we can design within the purview of classic taste and for several seasons now we’ve had something of an obsession with texture in our ties.

  • Repp refers to the silk texture which is characterised by the diagonal stripes on the tie, horizontal stripes in the weave. Our repp ties are usually found in regimental stripes or solid colour.

  • Satin weave usually has a glossy surface and often uses a warp-faced weaving technique in which the warp yarns are floated against the weft. Perfect for a more dressy look.
